In the best of times, keeping your frontline workers safe and healthy can be a challenge. But what about in a year upended by COVID-19? How quickly did traditional workplaces that fought to stay open have to adapt their environments and behaviors to CDC guidelines? How much did having a non-English speaking workforce complicate strategy? No stranger to the challenges of communicating safety, Dan Ramir, CHST, shared the methods developed by the Latino Worker Safety Center (LWSC) to communicate workplace health and safety across cultural barriers. Mobilizing both adult learning theory and cultural relativism, the LWSC has created free, virtual, live workplace COVID-19 health courses designed to reach workers of Latino, Arabic, Chinese, and Polish heritage.
Did you miss the Chapter January webinar and want to learn more? You can contact Mr. Ramir at firstname.lastname@example.org directly for information or how to sign up your workers. For additional resources on COVID-19 training, you can visit our Chapter Technical Meetings pages for a publicly available COVID-19 Worker Training Program. We will be updating with the LWSC presentation when it becomes available. Stay tuned!
