PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Greetings Chicago Safety Pros!
Today is a special day for me. I celebrate one year with my company, marking my first full year as a tried and true safety pro. In this short time, I have been thrilled to share the knowledge gleaned through a tough but well-earned Master of Public Health program completed months prior right here in the City of Chicago. On the flipside, I find myself humbled by the many things I didn't know; like the multitude of ways that my clients operate, the varying challenges they face in implementing workplace safety (or lack thereof), and how to connect with some in the understanding that, when it comes to workplace safety:  we are all in this together

It is because you all share the same principle of support and togetherness that I believe that several of you answered the call to become an officer on the chapter executive board. As a result, I would like to be the first to introduce Josh Asiedu as 2nd Vice President of the Greater Chicago Chapter and welcome Julia Carmen Castellon who succeeds to the 1st Vice President!  Your chapter is grateful for your show of support and, though all board positions have been filled, I want you to remember there are still plenty of ways to get actively involved! Be sure to reach out to myself or any of your board members on our Chapter website or the new ASSP Community website to find out how.

Your new board is ready to serve you in exciting ways. In November, we plan on having one last Chapter gathering at our traditional meeting place in Harwood Heights to host by popular demand, one more subject matter expert discussion on silica. Afterwards, we have decided its time to begin the search for venues to host us within the city proper. So be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a chapter member survey in your email box to gauge your member needs. Better yet, you should tell us in person where you'd like to see your Chapter go. Join us for another Chapter social event this Friday! RSVP here. Thanks and have a wonderful October!

AROUND THE WEB
Kids love the magic of Halloween: Trick-or-treating, classroom parties and trips to a neighborhood haunted house. But for moms and dads, often there is a fine line between Halloween fun and safety concerns, especially when it comes to road and pedestrian safety.
