Event Topic: RCRA Refresher

Join the ASSP Greater Chicago Chapter for an insightful presentation on how RCRA fits in with other major environmental laws passed in the Environmental Decade (1970-1980) and will describe hazardous waste generator responsibilities with a focus on Illinois hazardous waste regulations.  The presentation will touch on waste characterization requirements imposed by the Generator Improvement Rule, as well as providing a refresher on generator category determination, permit exemptions, central accumulation areas, satellite accumulation areas, and contingency planning.This presentation will show how RCRA fits in with other major environmental laws passed in the Environmental Decade (1970-1980) and will describe hazardous waste generator responsibilities with a focus on Illinois hazardous waste regulations.  The presentation will touch on waste characterization requirements imposed by the Generator Improvement Rule, as well as providing a refresher on generator category determination, permit exemptions, central accumulation areas, satellite accumulation areas, and contingency planning.

FEATURED SPEAKER

Martin Hamper began his career at the United States Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 working in the RCRA hazardous waste program for nearly 5 years.  Since entering consulting, he has worked in a wide range of environmental programs including RCRA, CERCLA, UST, TSCA/PCB, CWA, OPA, state remediation programs, state enforcement programs, and emergency response.  Mr. Hamper has been actively involved in RCRA hazardous waste permitting, closure, corrective action, compliance, enforcement and training projects for industry.
